  I went here with my tour group and was excited to try German food in Berlin.  I got the salad as a starter, and it was pretty good, but there were a lot of onions and not a lot of lettuce.
  For the main dish I got the sausage with mashed potatoes and coleslaw.  The sausage was alright.  I enjoyed the taste, but felt that the flavor was not very apparent. However, they gave 3 pieces of sausage, so the meal was filling!
  Dessert was probably my favorite part, because we got ice cream with red jelly sauce.  The flavor of the sauce was like a raspberry and I really enjoyed it!
  Overall, the food was good for a decent price, and the beers were huge if you're looking for a few drinks!

  Was a tourist travelling to Berlin, stayed in a nearby five star hotel and just wanted to find a place to grab a bite, in quite a good mood, all smiley and happy.
  
  Went to the front of the restaurant, the only staff was chatting with someone who is not a customer, saw me and gave me a back off/wait hand gesture, I proceeded to wait and look at my phone for a while, when I looked up at him again he literally yelled at me and yelled "what is your problem?" Angrily.
  
  Tourists be aware, if you wanted to be treated like shit for no reason This is definitely the place for you.

  Average food. We had schnitzel witg mixed mushrooms  which was good. Steak plate and currywurst just ok. Service was good!  For first night in Germany not good enough!

  I have been to the Kartoffelkiste today and it wasn't a really nice stay. The ambient is not suitable to the menu. There are several local beer sign but you can't find a real Berlin beer. The waiters are not really suited right, they wear ties the wrong way. Now to the meal: You are not allowed to switch your side dish, by giving the argue the kitchen is above capacity while the restaurant isn't really half full. When you get your meal and the waiters can't really remember who had which meal. The roasted potatoes weren't well done, after complaining they told me, that's the usual way and they can only offer french fries. Even after the paying they haven't offered us any pardon. At the end I would say, I would never go again to this restaurant.
